Deep removal of SO2 from cathode air over polyethylenimine-modified SBA-15 sorbents for fuel cells

The performance and longevity of fuel cells can be significantly degraded by the contaminants in air, such as SO2 NO2, which poison cathode catalysts. cleanup air a real environment may thus required. In this work, sorption desorption behavior over molecular basket sorbents (MBSs) consisting polyethylenimine (PEI) SBA-15 has been studied. effects temperature, PEI loading concentration on capacity PEI-SBA-15 were examined. results showed that temperature amount greatly influence performance. regenerability study only about 10–40 % was recoverable spent due to strong chemical interaction between amine sites. Additionally, co-existing NO2 examined, showing competitive sorbent. current demonstrates PEI-BA-15 sorbent could promising for deep removal from cells.
